People Trafficking

The people trafficking for sexual purposes group began in 2011 as a consequence of the intent to influence in the People Trafficking Law (26.364) reform process, which ended with the bill with the group’s inputs becoming a new law (26.842) in december 2012. Along with a group of civil society organizations that fight against people trafficking, the Legislative Directory Foundation did a constant work of incidence over key legislators in order to reach the new law which gives more effective answers to this complex crime.

  • Campaign in change.org to collect signatures supporting the claim of a law’s regulation.
  • In 2013, between April and September, seven meetings have taken place between the National Program to Rescue and Support People Affected by People Trafficking, the Justice and Human Rights National Ministry and the civil society organizations that address the issue. Several topics, recommendations, concerns and recommendations stem from this dialogue and discussion process that will be taken into account as an input for the Program’s preliminary project, according to the Program’s report.
  • 2013: Document with recommendations for the regulation decree – built collaboratively with the Women’s Office of the Supreme Court of Justice and with the Procuratorate of People Trafficking and Abuse of the Fiscal Public Ministry (PROTEX in Spanish) – delivered to the competent bodies on the regulation.
  • Press Conference in the National Congress’s Deputy Chamber with the participation of numerous legislators.
  • Meeting with the General Defender of the Nation, Stella Maris Martínez.
  • Meeting with the Nation’s Ombudsman, Dr. Anselmo Sella.
  • Meeting with Dr. Gloria Bonatto, in charge of the National Secretary of Childhood, Adolescence and Family from the Nation’s Developmental Ministry.
  • Reunión con María Luisa Storani quien solicitó un informe al PEN pidiendo explicaciones por la falta de la reglamentación de la ley.
